Information in the Sheriff’s Blotter is gathered from the dispatch logs provided by the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office. No individual’s names are reported. And those arrested should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The following is a summary of activity for May 6-May 12, 2022
12:53 a.m. Quincy. A caller reports a suspicious vehicle in the area, it is unknown if it is occupied. A subject was named as the caller reports that the vehicle looks like a named subject’s vehicle but could not give a description. The call was transferred to CHP. 1:12 a.m. The caller stated she now believes someone is in the vehicle. That was also transferred to CHP.
4:47 a.m. Greenville. A caller reports a structure fire at Alta Camp. There is smoke coming out of a unit. The caller stated the unit is vacant. 4:51 a.m. Indian Valley Fire and Crescent Mills Fire were paged. There is no deputy available to respond. 4:59 a.m. Mutual aid was requested from Prattville. 5:12 a.m. Plumas 12 advised a 2-story apartment with smoke showing from the specified unit. 5:17 a.m. All utilities have been shut down at the location. 7:30 a.m. Fire cleared the scene.
10:49 a.m. Cromberg. A caller reports a reckless driver in a gray Ford pickup all over the road. The information was sent to CHP.
12:28 p.m. Chester. Hospital personnel advise an intoxicated person left against medical advice after being brought in by CHP. 12:43 p.m. A deputy advises the subject is sitting at the laundromat and looks okay. The deputy will continue to observe the subject. 1:41 p.m. The deputy advises the subject is hanging out in front of the laundromat, is okay and not in danger. The hospital advised the subject does not need to return to the Emergency Room. 3:39 p.m. A deputy advised a manager of another local business reported that the subject is being a nuisance at the business. 3:44 p.m. The subject was arrested on a charge of drunk in public.
12:31 p.m. Quincy. A report was made of a thinly built strawberry blonde-possibly under the influence- in light-colored clothing that came up to a person in a parked truck and punched the door and tried to start a fight. 12:54 p.m. A deputy was unable to locate the subject.
1:48 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports that a female subject is illegally camping and now has blocked the trail to the water with bushes and sticks. 2:52 p.m. A deputy contacted a pair of known subjects, who are okay, not camping, and not blocking the trail. 3:35 p.m. A second caller reports that the female subject is having a warming fire. The caller said it is a small fire in a fire pit. The caller was advised warming fires are legal.
3:57 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports that a subject is coming over to his residence and moving the caller’s items, as well as turning on the watering hose and has flooded the front yard. The caller said he pays the water bill and requests a deputy speak with the subject. 6:47 p.m. A deputy contacted the subject and informed the subject of the neighbors wishes. A trespass warning was given.
Warmed up for a doctor visit
4:23 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports that the subject is possibly intoxicated and should not be driving. The caller said the subject is in his vehicle at the North Fork medical building and is preparing to leave.
7:03 p.m. Quincy. AT&T advised that three of the six 911 lines are down.
7:23 p.m. Portola. A caller requests medical help for a 38-year-old male who drank too much. The call was transferred to the hospital. Beckwourth Fire was also paged. 7:41 p.m. The patient refused care and is transporting himself in a private vehicle.
High speed on High St.
8:23 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a reckless driver on a motorcycle. The bike drove past her residence at approximately 50 MPH. The information was sent to CHP.
Missing pup should be easy to spot
8:29 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports his dog went missing on Peppard Flat Road approximately 30 minutes ago. The dog is a Husky/Pit Bull mix with blue and brown eyes, black and white in color. The information was faxed to Animal Control.
8:44 p.m. Chester. CHP reports they received a call from an elderly female who is lost in a tan Lincoln sedan on Humbug Road. The vehicle will not turn on. The subject has no food or water. 8:47 p.m. CHP is on the way to the location. 9:37 p.m. Another unit is going to assist CHP. 10:47 p.m. A deputy reports assistance is complete.
12:07 a.m. Quincy. A caller reports her ex broke her car window. The subject is no longer with the caller. The caller said the subject broke multiple items in the vehicle. The subject is in a described vehicle and she has no injuries. 12:20 a.m. A deputy advises the caller is near the Catholic Church. 1:26 a.m. The deputy was unable to locate the subject.
2:10 a.m. Quincy. The jail advised an inmate turned herself in and is possibly intoxicated and they request a deputy respond. The subject was charged with failure to follow a court order and probation violation.
Slowing down the morning pace
8:05 a.m. Graeagle. A caller reports she is broken down on the side of the road on Hwy 70 just east of Little Bear Road.
10:07 a.m. Quincy. A caller reports having a temporary restraining order against her son who took her dog. The caller stated that the order was served on May 3. The caller only wants the dog back, nothing further. 10:10 a.m. The TRO was granted but has not been served yet. 10:22 a.m. A deputy contacted the caller and provided TRO procedures. The caller will recontact if she has a known location for the subject to be served.
10:30 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports they were assaulted and almost killed at the intersection of Mill Creek and E. Main St. by the Nevada Government through astral projection. The caller is having heart palpitations but does not want medical and requests deputy contact. 10:46 a.m. A deputy advised no response needed-continuous incident.
11:08 a.m. Quincy. A caller reports a subject is attempting to break in to his old residence; he has been evicted. 11:22 a.m. A deputy contacted the subject on the property and advised him to leave and not return. A trespass warning was given for the whole property. 11:31 a.m. The deputy advised the subject that if they return to the property they will be arrested for trespassing. 12:20 p.m. The caller advised the subject is back on the scene. 12:27 p.m. The deputy said the subject was gone upon arrival.
11:39 a.m. Quincy. A caller reports finding a wallet while walking near Gansner Park. 12:15 p.m. The property was returned to the owner.
11:56 a.m. Tobin. CHP reports a stranded subject on Rock Creek ridge at the intersection of the road from Tobin and the road from Rock Creek. Longitude and latitude were provided. Personnel advised not being able to get to the subject-they need higher clearance. The victim was driving a Toyota Sequoia and crashed, off road, into a tree facing downhill. The vehicle is roughly 3 miles from where the subject is now. Attempts to contact the subject via phone received no answer. 1:52 p.m. Attempts to get the subject vehicle out did not work. The vehicle is stuck near High lakes, and they will need a jeep and a wench to get it out. 3:16 p.m. Search and Rescue advised contacting the subject who is refusing assistance. The subject said he is waiting for a friend to come assist him to get his vehicle out.
No neutral solution or “My bad”
1:22 p.m. Lake Almanor Peninsula. A caller reports accidentally leaving their vehicle in gear and it rolled across the street into the neighbors’ garage door and damaged it; they are currently not home. They will call the insurance and Country Club security.
2:20 p.m. Beckwourth. A caller reports vandalism to the large mail bank in Beckwourth. It is unknown if anything is stolen but it looks like the boxes were pried open. The caller said her package was tampered with, but nothing was stolen. 3:21 p.m. A deputy said no boxes look pried open at the mailbox bank in Beckwourth. They will check boxes as the bottom of Grizzly Road. 3:30 p.m. The deputy was unable to locate any pried open mail boxes but did locate an open mailbox with a package inside. The deputy will deliver the package to the homeowners.
2:24 p.m. Chester. A caller reports a trespasser on his property. The caller is attempting to have the property cleaned up after the fire. The subject was on the property yesterday telling the clean-up crew to leave. 4:35 p.m. The caller received information that the named subject has loaded up a trailer of the caller’s belongings and left the property. The subject is staying at the Rose Quartz Motel. 9:02 p.m. A deputy contacted the caller who said he will allow the subject to return to the property to get the rest of his belongings. Civil procedures were provided for both parties.
All warmed up and ready to go
2:31 p.m. Chester. A caller reports a customer had his vehicle stolen while he was inside paying for his food at the Copper Kettle. The vehicle is a black Jeep Wrangler. The information was transferred to CHP.
3:14 p.m. Lake Almanor. A caller reports a male subject passed out at the boat ramp, possibly a heart attack. The victim is not breathing. CPR is in progress by a civilian. Seneca Hospital was paged but they advised it is Plumas District Hospital area. PDH was paged. 3:23 p.m. The caller recontacted to say the victim is now breathing and they can hear sirens coming. 3:40 p.m. A helicopter transport was requested. ETA is 4:09 p.m.
Tourist season for the locals
4:19 p.m. La Porte. A caller reports his vehicle is stuck in 10 feet of snow 2 miles above Little Grass Valley Reservoir in a Dodge Ram 1500 with his wife and 3.5-year-old grandson. He is about 2 feet away from the pavement and a tow truck would be able to get him unstuck. 4:48 p.m. The information was sent to CHP who will inquire with a supervisor as it is technically Quincy’s area. 5 p.m. Our end (Plumas) of LaPorte is still snowed in, it would be a 3-hour response. 5:18 p.m. Chico CHP said they are on a call and cannot respond. 8:44 p.m. A known local advised he got the subject unstuck around 5:30 p.m.
5:27 p.m. Portola. A caller reports a package was delivered to his front door and the package contents were stolen. The package was ripped open left behind. The items stolen were $3,000 worth of cellphones from Verizon.
Hit and run reconsidered-with a little help
5:37 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a hit and run at the college apartments. The suspect is broken down near the soccer field. 6:03 p.m. A deputy contacted both involved parties who have exchanged information and are not requesting a response from CHP.
6:04 p.m. Janesville Grade, 4 miles in. A caller reports two males on dirt bikes came up to the caller while he was collecting pinecones and started a verbal argument. The subjects claimed to be “cops” and “destroyed” the bags of pinecones he had collected. The subjects left the area on the dirt bikes.
6:51 p.m. Chester. A caller reports a named subject is causing a disturbance and breaking things outside of the house and hitting the caller’s vehicle with pieces of wood. 7:19 p.m. The subject was gone upon arrival.
Next report: items stolen from campsite
7:46 p.m. Meadow Valley. A caller reports that while hiking at Bucks Lake she found a backpack and camping gear. She requests a deputy pick the property up. 9:12 p.m. A deputy advised the item(s) has been removed.
7:48 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports an old friend stopped by her house and was acting strange and mentioned needing an ambulance. The subject also stated his mother was shot and needed help. The known subject left in an unknown direction and seemed to be intoxicated or on drugs. 8:05 p.m. The male subject was charged with a violation of probation. 8:32 p.m. A Sgt. advised the dog was returned to the subject’s mother.
10:21 a.m. Greenville. A caller requests to speak to a deputy regarding falling a tree on his property that will fall over the road for a short amount of time and he wants to make sure he can do that. 11:02 a.m. The deputy provided civil procedures.
11:51 a.m. Portola. A subject was arrested on charges possession of paraphernalia, receiving stolen property, and probation violation during a probation check in the alley between Rio Grande and Pacific.
4:14 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports two transients staying outside the church. The caller said they have been asked to leave and are not welcome there. The subjects are not currently there but left their belongings, and he wants the property removed. The subject’s names are unknown and there was no description of the subjects. 4:46 p.m. A deputy contacted a known person who will be removing her belongings. An official trespass was given.
6:36 a.m. Quincy. A caller reports he is being beat up by the Nevada Government, they are astral projecting on him. The caller is having a mental episode. 6:40 a.m. The caller called back and said he is looking to move from the area.
Football turnover or Game changer
10:21 a.m. Portola. A caller reports a burglary to his business. A framed Joe Montana jersey and possibly other items were taken. The caller found a broken window.
Gone like the wind or Home free
3:08 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a loose horse (lighter brown with an all-black mane) is on her property. The fence isn’t enclosed so the horse could get to the highway if it gets out. It possibly went toward the train tracks. The info was given to CHP. 3:15 p.m. Animal Control was notified. 3:30 p.m. Animal Control advised the horse ran past the railroad tracks and into USFS land.
3:30 p.m. Quincy. A caller advised a known subject returned to the church last night. Her belongings are still outside the church by the dumpster. The subject was given an official trespass yesterday. The caller requests patrol checks throughout the night and that the subject be removed if she is on the property. 5:50 p.m. A patrol check reports the two subjects are not present. 10:49 p.m. Patrol check shows no one in the area.
5:09 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a subject is harassing her at her place of work. The caller advised there is a restraining order on file. The subject is in a silver Nissan Pathfinder and keeps driving by multiple times flipping her off. The caller wants the information on file.
7:25 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a suspicious circumstance at Suburban Propane next to the Mobile station. Two males on bikes are trying to pick the lock of the white building next to the gas station. One subject has a beard wearing all black. 8:09 p.m. The building was checked, it is secure, and no one is around.
8:30 p.m. Quincy. A caller from Sierra Pacific Industries reports a suspicious circumstance. A subject is taking pictures and recording the inside of employee vehicles. The caller said the unknown subject is on a red bicycle and was working with another unknown subject in a gray truck with no back window. The bicycle subject initially left and then returned with the grey truck. 7:52 p.m. Extra patrols will be added.
8:36 p.m. Chester. A caller reports that 20 minutes ago an unknown male came to the door, and he was looking for the Methodist Church seeking housing for the night. The caller said the subject was confused and giving random facts. He was about 55 years old in a plaid coat, baseball hat and glasses. The subject continued walking on foot. 9:03 p.m. A deputy contacted the caller and advised the subject possibly has mental health issues and was unable to locate any suspicious activity in the area.
9:04 p.m. Quincy. The jail reports a subject turned herself in and tested positive for drugs. The subject was rebooked on a probation violation.
9:15 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a male suspect yelling at a female in front of the Feather River gym. No description was given, it was too dark to see. The male is on foot running south from the gym on Crescent St. 9:30 p.m. A deputy contacted a known couple who advised it was a verbal argument only and they agreed to keep the peace.
10:02 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports that SavMor has a blinking light above the main door. An unknown vehicle is parked out in front of the store and the caller is concerned because she believes the store is now closed.
11:57 p.m. Cromberg. A caller reports a jack-knifed semi-truck on Hwy 70. No medical is needed. The call was dropped due to lack of services. The caller called back with a location near Mt. Tomba Road. May 10, 12:09 a.m. A caller identified himself as one of the semi drivers. No medical or fire is needed, both lanes are blocked. Deputy units will respond to assist with traffic control. Both directions are closed near Camp Layman and Mt. Tomba to clear multiple semi-trucks, in a collision, from the road.
6:22 a.m. Portola. A caller reports a large German Shepherd-like dog is in her yard. He is black with brown paws and the caller is unable to get the dog to leave. The caller has 3 dogs of her own and several chickens and she is unwilling to open the gate to her yard because she does not want her own animals to get out. She requests a deputy or Animal Control come to her home and remove the dog. 6:53 a.m. The caller reports the dog has left her yard but is still loose in the area.
9:57 a.m. Portola. A caller reports two tires were flattened, possibly by a known suspect. The caller will be at work but is available by phone.
10:57 a.m. Quincy. A caller needs to talk to a deputy about getting her car back from the “ex” (named) who is not on the registration. 12:07 p.m. The caller said the subject is telling her he is going to crash her car off a cliff and threatened to assault her if she came to him. The caller believes he is out of the area, maybe in Colfax, she is not sure. 1:16 p.m. A deputy provided civil procedures to the caller, and she said she signed a release of liability. The caller was advised to contact CHP for further assistance.
1:33 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a burglary to a vacant rental cabin. An employee is on the scene. A stove and a refrigerator were stolen.
4:02 p.m. Delleker. A caller reports her mother called her today and advised she is on drugs at someone’s house and needs help. 4:17 p.m. A deputy advised contacting the caller who requests it on file that her mother is possibly using drugs and needs to go to rehab.
4:47 p.m. Portola. A caller reports a structure fire, a trailer is on fire, and spreading quickly. Everyone is out of the house and the caller is working on telling nearby occupants to leave. 4:55 p.m. Fire is in a shed in the back of a trailer. Eastern Plumas Fire requests back up for mutual aid from Beckwourth Fire. 5:33 p.m. The fire has been extinguished. All units can clear and are available.
Money growing on trees, falling like leaves
5:30 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports finding a wallet and wants to turn it in. They are in front of the office.
This is your warning-no warning shots fired because ammo is expensive
7 p.m. Chilcoot. A caller reports a suspicious male pulled up to the caller’s gate at the residence claiming to be a power company. The man refused to provide proof or identification. He was driving a newer white Ford Focus with no company emblems. The subject wore a black leather jacket and had dark brown hair. He did not look like he was dressed in work clothing. The subject is still on the property just walking around. 9:02 p.m. A deputy contacted the subject who agreed to move along.
8:06 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a suspicious male subject digging through the church garbage and going through items and acting strange. He is wearing all grey or blue sweats and a hoodie. 9:20 p.m. A deputy contacted the paster of the church; there is no crime.
7:42 a.m. Greenville. A caller requests a welfare check on a subject and the subjects’ son. The elder has health problems and the son is the caregiver. The son was seen walking down the road today in slippers saying he needs a break. The caller is afraid the home condition is unsafe. 8:48 a.m. A deputy advised both subjects are okay.
9:24 a.m. Quincy. A caller reports a reckless driver just pulled into the Polka Dot parking lot in a black BMW. The information was transferred to CHP.
10:52 a.m. Chester. A caller reports a reckless driver all over the road in a black Ford Focus. The information was transferred to CHP.
2:19 p.m. Chester. A caller reports an elderly male walking on the side of the road, the eastbound lane of Hwy 36 one mile east of Chester, with a shopping cart. The caller said the subject is walking very close to traffic and at times allowing his cart to enter the roadway.
3:09 p.m. Twain. Two subjects (one male, one female) were arrested at Halstead Campground on Hwy 70. The male was arrested on charges of under the influence of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of drugs along with violations for Butte County warrants. The female was arrested on charges of under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Longing for an unchained melody
4:54 p.m. Portola. A caller reports an ongoing issue with the neighbors’ dog being chained up outside and barking for extended time frames. The dog is a Pit bull mix. The information was faxed to Animal Control.
Is that a snake I hear?
8:56 p.m. Taylorsville. A caller reports that her propane tank is possibly leaking. When she walked by, she can smell propane, and hears a hissing sound. Indian Valley Fire and Crescent Mills Fire were paged. 7:32 p.m. The leak was stopped, and the propane company has been notified.
8:08 p.m. Mineral. A caller reports a rock slide blocking both lanes on Hwy 32, approximately 3 miles west of Hwy 36.
9:31 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports friends of her ex-husband are harassing her via text. 10:26 p.m. A Sgt. advised Temporary Restraining Order procedures provided and the information is on file.
Trolling for a late-night snack
10:52 p.m. Crescent Mills. A caller reports a large bear in her front yard. The number for Fish and Game was given to the caller.
3:54 p.m. Portola. A caller reports that she drove off the roadway into a ditch near A24 and Marble Hot Springs Road. She is in a Honda Pilot and said that she is stuck in the vehicle. Someone is on the scene attempting to get her out. The vehicle has water entering it and she is unsure how deep the ditch is or how much water is outside of it. The caller said there are no injuries. The information was transferred to CHP. Beckwourth Fire and EPHC were paged. 4 p.m. Search and Rescue were paged. 4:10 p.m. CHP is on the scene and SAR can cancel. 4:32 p.m. A Sgt. advised the driver is okay and CHP will handle it.
4:10 p.m. Quincy. A caller requests to speak to a deputy about a theft of their cat. She is standing by the front office. 4:36 p.m. A deputy advised civil procedures were provided.
4:03 p.m. Beckwourth. A caller on Valley View Drive reports that he shot off his gun to scare off the bear near his residence.
5:50 p.m. Portola. A caller reports that she is having issues with the neighbor’s dog barking for long time frames. 6:15 p.m. A deputy advised contacting the homeowner who said the dog must be on the chain or else he will jump the fence. The homeowner advised she will make sure the dog is not outside for too long.
Looks good on the inside
5:51 p.m. Quincy. A caller requests extra patrol checks in the area. A co-worker told her she saw a male subject taking photos of the inside of her vehicle on May 11. 8:14 p.m. A deputy checked the area and everything is okay. 10:28 p.m. A deputy checked the area, and everything looks okay.
