Cricketers won’t be the only people stepping up to the wicket over Cup Match.

Pronto, the micro fulfilment centre that offers “daily essentials, delivered fast”, launched a new app on Monday — and expects that its team of dedicated delivery agents will be kept busy over the holiday.

Entrepreneur Colin Rego, the founder and chief executive officer of Sargasso Technologies Ltd, said: “Holidays are the busiest times.

“We’re here, we’re open and we’re here to serve Bermuda. We will bring the ice to you.”

Pronto launched in December with a three-month pilot testing phase, promising fast delivery of a wide range of goods at the lowest prices on the island.

Goods available include groceries, snacks, beverages, health and beauty products, home and office supplies, pet supplies and much more, including Cup Match essentials such as lilos, bbqs and tents.

Mr Rego said 2,000 people have been shopping at Pronto per week for groceries and daily essentials.

The average order is $140. Delivery is free for orders over $100 and $10 otherwise.

Mr Rego said the Pronto app has been in the research and development phase for 18 months.

Until this week, customers ordered on Pronto’s main shopping platform at www.pronto.bm or on the Sargasso Sea platform.

Now all orders must be made on the Pronto app, which is available from the App Store and Google Play.

Almost 400 people signed up on Monday, the first day the app was available.

Mr Rego said the new app’s technology has been licensed by the company and has been customised for its use in Bermuda.

He said: “The application understands how the modern-day consumer shops.

“The experience for a retail shopper in Bermuda is one of a kind.”
