Arguably the most controversial Perk/Field Upgrade in CoD is making a return, as players react to Modern Warfare 2’s Dead Silence.

Modern Warfare 2 will bring back the controversial Dead Silence Field Upgrade to both multiplayer and Warzone 2.0, causing negative player reactions.

Modern Warfare 2 is set to make some drastic changes to the multiplayer mode, from a new Gunsmith to a completely refurbished Perk system.

There is some continuity though, with returning Lethal and Tactical equipment, as well as brand-new ones. The game is also set to get some new game modes as well, which players will get to try out in the beta.

With that said, one controversial Field Upgrade that caused a lot of debate in the community is returning to Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2. Dead Silence will be a Field Upgrade in Modern Warfare 2, leaving some happy that it won’t be a Perk, however, its very presence in the game is causing mixed reactions.

In addition to the Heartbeat Sensor receiving a nerf, players were expecting Dead Silence to either be dropped completely or be revamped. At the Call of Duty Next event, we finally got to see the new Dead Silence in action, and it seems that some changes have been made.

Dead Silence will now have a short activation animation, which sees the player pull out a device, press a button, and then have silent footsteps.

Many are confused by this, with one comment under a Reddit post about MW2’s Dead Silence saying, “I know CoD isn’t exactly realistic, but what in the hell is the point of including something like this? I press a button on a walkie talkie and now my footsteps are quiet? Why even bother?”

While the animation could stall players and be considered a nerf, it isn’t exactly a drastic one, and many in the community feel the Field Upgrade will continue to be extremely powerful in Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2.

Reddit user Mathiasxd148- highlighted the fact that Dead Silence will be a part of MW2 and Warzone 2.0 over in the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit, in a post titled “bruh moment.”

Clearly, this player isn’t ecstatic about the Field Upgrade’s inclusion, and they aren’t the only ones either, with comments also expressing similar opinions.

One user shares their thoughts by saying “They just don’t listen to the playerbase… Footsteps will probably sound like cinder blocks again.”

On the other hand, some aren’t mad about Dead Silence’s inclusion, with one user explaining that “having dead silence as a field upgrade is more balanced than a perk.”

We’ll have to wait and see if Dead Silence is as much of a problem for players in Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2 as it has been in the original Warzone upon release.

For now, check out everything we know about the new Call of Duty DMZ mode.

Here’s a look at every Killstreak that that players could aim to earn in the Modern Warfare 2 beta including the classic Chopper Gunner.

Modern Warfare 2 will introduce a new set of Killstreaks for multiplayer fans to enjoy. Here’s a look at every Killstreak available to players during the Modern Warfare 2 beta.

Getting multiple kills in a row without dying in a Call of Duty match is not only a great feeling, but the game also rewards you with powerful Killstreaks to utilize. Over the years, players have fought their way to earning iconic Killstreaks like Attack Dogs, Chopper Gunners, and Tactical Nukes.

Thanks to the Call of Duty Next event, we know that Modern Warfare 2 players can switch freely between earning Killstreaks through consecutive kills or score. Whether you prefer the Killstreak method or the Scorestreak method, here are the shiny new toys up for grabs in Modern Warfare 2.

As previously mentioned, Infinity Ward has allowed players to choose their preferred way of playing Modern Warfare 2 by either equipping Killstreaks or Scorestreaks.

As usual, Killstreaks are earned by reaching the required kill total for that specific Killstreak without dying. It’s important to note that Killstreaks do not stack in Modern Warfare 2, which means that kills produced by your Killstreaks will not count toward your active streak.

Players will be able to select three Killstreaks but you won’t be able to change Killstreaks once a match starts. If you visit the Killstreaks menu you’ll notice a toggle at the bottom-left corner of your screen to switch from Killstreaks to Scorestreaks.

Much like previous Call of Duty games to feature Scorestreaks, players can primarily earn score through kills, assists, and playing the objective

Players will be delighted to see fan-favorite classics like the Chopper Gunner and Gunship reprise their roles as some of the most devastating Killsreaks in Modern Warfare 2.

The Juggernaut Killstreak is currently the prize that requires the most kills or score to earn, so it’s sure to pack a punch.

New additions include the S.A.E., which will use three jets to unleash an aerial explosive on a targeted area. You’ll have a chance to test out these Killstreaks throughout the Modern Warfare 2 beta, so it shouldn’t take long to figure out your ideal combination.

A third ‘DMZ’ mode is set to arrive as part of Modern Warfare 2, so here’s everything we know about it, including the release date.

Modern Warfare 2 will feature an Escape from Tarkov-inspired extraction game known as DMZ mode, and here’s everything we know about it so far.

Traditionally, a Call of Duty game comes with three modes – campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies/Spec Ops. Modern Warfare 2 will feature a third mode that is known as ‘DMZ.’

Infinity Ward confirmed this mode’s arrival at the Call of Duty Next event. We’ll go over everything that you need to know, including how the DMZ mode works, its release date, and more.

Modern Warfare 2’s DMZ is set to be an Escape from Tarkov-themed extraction style game mode. This is where players load into the map and must battle both other players and AI before extracting loot.

In Escape from Tarkov, anything you take into the raid will be lost if you die, meaning taking high-tier loot comes with a high risk/reward, and DMZ will reportedly have the same mechanic. In a Washington Post interview, the devs confirmed this mode supports up to 100 players.

While DMZ’s gameplay is still shrouded in mystery, the devs stated that squads could take down a sniper, revive him, and then pick them as a new teammate.

Infinity Ward confirmed that DMZ will arrive with Warzone 2 at launch on November 16. They also added that this battle royale and extraction-based mode will be free-to-play along with the Warzone sequel.

So, you only have to wait a few more weeks before hopping into this new sandbox experience.

The DMZ mode will take place on the Warzone 2 Al Mazrah map, with AI occupying “large sections of the map.” These NPCs will set up in Strongholds, and you’ll have to battle them before you can reach the loot.

Infinity Ward added that you’ll have the option of choosing missions and objectives on Al Mazrah during a DMZ match. Alternatively, you can also check out a “variety of activities in the world.”

While the devs haven’t revealed what these objectives will be, CoD leaker ‘Reality’ claimed in a leak that they include searching marked areas for radioactivity, destroying supplies, finding intel, and extracting.

The leaked information also hints that rescuing hostages could also be a major aspect of DMZ. However, since these are leaks, you should take them with a grain of salt.

Here’s an overview of all the Lethal and Tactical equipment at your disposal in the Modern Warfare 2 beta.

The Modern Warfare 2 beta will feature a new set of Tactical and Lethal equipment that players could choose from. Here’s an explanation of all the equipment in Modern Warfare 2’s beta.

The Modern Warfare 2 beta is set to begin on September 16 for those with early access. Whether you’ll be testing the brand-new Call of Duty title early or patiently waiting your turn, you’ll want all the intel possible to get you ready for battle.

Thankfully, the devs have provided a list of all the Lethal and Tactical equipment available in the Modern Warfare 2 beta. Players will notice some old favorites returning as well as some new innovations entering the fold.

Players will have nine options when it comes to selecting Lethal equipment in Modern Warfare 2. Call of Duty classics like the Claymore, C4, and Throwing Knife are up for grabs once more.

However, Infinity Ward also brought a new Lethal to the table called the Drill Charge, which can damage players hiding on the other side of a surface. The Drill Charge will add another layer to the strategy of clearing closed areas in Modern Warfare 2.

Meanwhile, you’ll notice the classic Semtex Grenade has been renamed the Sticky Grenade, and the Proximity Mine is similar to a modern Bouncing Betty.

Once again, players will notice their tried and true favorites like the Stun Grenade, Flash Grenade, and Smoke Grenade. However, this doesn’t mean that classics can’t undergo drastic changes.

Infinity Ward decided to nerf the Heartbeat Sensor Tactical by limiting its use with a battery charge. You’ll have to find the optimal time to use the Heartbeat Sensor. Spamming the equipment will make the battery charge run out and render it useless.

Another important feature you’ll want to take note of is the Smoke Grenade’s ability to prevent automated targeting systems to lock on to you. In addition, you’ll be able to use a weapon one-handed while activating your Stim.

Once we get our hands on the Modern Warfare 2 beta, we’ll be sure to include the unlock levels for each of these Lethal and Tactical pieces of equipment.
