I don’t know about all of you, but I am awful at finding time to wash my car. That’s why I’m glad I found out Take 5 Car Wash opened four new locations in the Golden Triangle, with two in Starkville and the rest in Columbus!

The car washes are located at 234 Alabama St. and 2209 Hwy. 45 N. in Columbus and 500 and 813 Hwy. 12 in Starkville. Take 5 converted all four locations after acquiring them from Supersonic Car Wash.

District Manager Dalton Kleinjan told me the locations opened on Sept. 9 and saw more than 1,400 customers on opening day. He also said the business has been running smoothly as a freshly waxed convertible since then, and he couldn’t be more thrilled to be here serving the Golden Triangle.

“Everything’s going well,” Kleinjan said. “We are definitely increasing the service level for the customers and really just trying to set ourselves apart from the rest.”

If that update isn’t clean enough for you, maybe this Columbus barber’s new location will make the cut. Owner Currie Haynes will soon move Curries Barber Shop and Salon from its current location at 805 C Alabama St. to 1301 Gardner Blvd.

Haynes told me he doesn’t plan to close but will be open at the current location on Oct. 3 for the last time and move into the new spot on Oct. 4.

Haynes has been working on renovating the new shop since June. Right now, he has new ceiling tiles placed and has put up the frame of a wall separating his barber station from his employees.

“New ceiling, new walls, new floors,” Haynes said. “The paneling people will be here (soon) to put up the walls.”

Haynes also said the new location comes after he nearly tripled his clientele over the last few years. He plans on having four barber chairs and a beautician station in the new shop.

“We’ve grown,” Haynes said. “This (the new shop) is six times bigger than the old place. A barber shop should be a place where you relax. We want to create that atmosphere for people.”

In other news, Foxhole Comics and Games at 109 Fifth St. S. opens Friday afternoon, just in time for the Downtown Art Walk. Don’t be surprised if you see business owner Daniel Criddle in the store early; he told me he wants to ensure everything is perfect.

Moving on to Starkville, 44-Prime Head Chef Jeff Thornsberry and his wife Katherine opened Brown Bag Provisions, a catering-specific and folk fusion food truck, on Sept. 2 during a Starkville High School football game.

“We do open-faced sandwiches, skewers and stuff like that whenever we’re out in public,” Thornsberry said. “Of course, we cater ourselves to the style of event they want. We can do more formal or more relaxed appetizers.”

Thornsberry told me he and his wife opened the truck as a way to really set down some solid roots in Starkville.

“Over the past 15 years, I’ve done nothing but travel all around,” Thornsberry said. “This is the first time we’ve ever been able to kind of stick to one spot. So it’s cool and exciting for us.”

Thornsberry said to keep a nostril out for the smell of the oh-so-delicious smell of fresh food sitting inside the paper bags the food truck is named after. But also to look on the truck’s Facebook page for updates on when and where it’ll be.

Finally, my friends, if these updates don’t clean, trim, or fill you up enough, maybe this will.

A new Pizza Hut broke ground earlier this week at 113 Hwy. 45 Alt. N. in West Point. Building Inspector Jeremy Klutts said the owners applied for a building permit on Sept. 13.

I contacted the contractor, Advanced Building Specialties, to answer some questions about the new business in 30 minutes or less, but company leadership was unavailable.

I also tried contacting the owners, Pizza Hut JJB Brands, but no one picked up the phone. I guess I’ll have to go hungry for now.

Well, that’s all for now. Make sure to check back in next week for more goings on in business!
