August 11, 2022: Baileys Irish cream is a well-loved drink, with its whiskey, cream and cocoa and vanilla flavours. But the team have regularly also launched new flavours, sometimes quite limited in their run. Previous flavours have included Apple Pie and Red Velvet to name a few and a coffee version is always a hit.

The makers have jumped on the coffee flavour again, this time bringing their Espresso Crème flavour to Australia.

Available from BWS and Dan Murphy's for $37.99, it sounds like it would be perfect in a tiramisu or as an espresso martini style cocktail – and let's be honest, plenty of us have been adding Baileys to coffee for a kick starter to our night for years. So, to have it in a bottle of its own is a great flavour to see released in Australia.

August 10, 2022: Irish whiskey maker Sliabh Liag Distillers has brought its gold medal-winning The Legendary Silkie Irish Whiskey range to Australia.

Described as "smoky perfection", the drop is from Ireland's Donegal coast, which National Geographic recently named as "The Coolest Place on the Planet".

Initially introducing two varieties exclusively at Dan Murphy's, The Legendary Silkie Irish Whiskey and its sister, The Legendary Dark Silkie Irish Whiskey, Sliabh Liag Distillers' founder, James Doherty said he was "pleased to bring some Donegal devilment down under".

"Silkie is richer than the lighter Irish whiskeys most Australians are used to. We're confident this will delight local drinkers, whether they are new or seasoned whiskey fans," Doherty said.

The arrival of Silkie comes as demand for Irish whiskey booms in Australia. Approximately 250,000 cases (over three million bottles) are sold per year and is said to be one of the fastest growing markets for Irish whiskey globally, with sales doubling from 2016 to 2020.

June 22, 2022: In the continuing push for more environmentally sustainable products a new wine bottle is causing a stir on Australian bottle shop shelves; a flat wine bottle, and it's made of plastic.

The bottle is made from 100 per cent recycled PET plastic and is all Australian sourced, making it a game-changer in reducing waste.

Using the recycled plastic targets one of the wine industry's environmental hotspots, the production of glass bottles.

But in addition to working towards lowering the wine industry's carbon footprint, there's a certain novelty factor that has wine drinkers intrigued. The 750ml bottle can fit into your pocket in a way that the same rounded glass bottle never could. And that sounds like fun.

So far you'll see both Banrock Station wines and Taylors One Small Step Wines in the new bottles in a collaboration between sustainable packaging pioneers Packamama and winemakers Accolade Wines and Taylors Wines.

From the front, the wine bottles are said to look like the classic high-shouldered silhouette of a traditional 'Bordeaux' wine bottle, until you turn them to the side to see the slimline shape. The flatter shape allows twice as many bottles to be packed into a standard wine case, and is 83 per cent lighter than glass, reducing emissions both in transport and production.

And when you've finished the bottle, it can be recycled, again.

The launch marks the Australian market debut of the eco-bottles, which have already been launched in Europe. Australia is well-known to be ready to adopt changes in wine bottles (screw caps being one of them), so we can only imagine how convenient these bottles will be for picnics and to fit more snuggly into the esky.

Banrock Station Eco-bottle Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir, retail for $16 a bottle.

Taylors One Small Step Eco-bottle Chardonnay and Shiraz, retail for $16 a bottle.

March 16, 2022: Vodka Cruiser gets an upgrade to double magnum size.

Well-known and loved as a standard one-person drink size, Vodka Cruisers have long been a spritzy, fruity, party drink for the warmer months.

But there's a new-look cruiser that is raising eyebrows as the party drink goes luxe and unveils its new 3.1L bottles for select venues.

The new limited-edition Cruiser Magnums celebrate the drink's 21st birthday as well as the reopening of dance floors across Australia.

But you can't get your hands on this super-sized party starter just anywhere.

Instead, 21 Aussies along with their friends will get the chance to win one of the impressive double magnum-sized bottles from a few special venues in the different states around the country. Flavours include Wild Raspberry, Juicy Watermelon and Lush Guava.

The bottles have the same look as the classic Cruiser, but in a super-size and with a slightly fancier label. The bottles hold around 11 standard Cruiser drinks and require two people to pop and pour them. Sounds like the kind of competition we want to win.

"It's been a tough few years for bars and clubs across the country," says Michael O'Donoghue, Brand Manager at Vodka Cruiser. "While we weren't able to celebrate Vodka Cruiser's 21st birthday last year with the ups and downs of the pandemic, we are beyond excited to really get the party started in 2022 by launching the Cruiser Magnums with our partner venues."

The 'Magnum Cruiser experience' will be available in Sydney at the Marlborough Hotel, in Melbourne at Billboard The Venue, in South Australia at The Highway and The Jetty Bar, and in Cairns at Gilligans.

"These limited-edition Magnums will be available to win, so we hope it brings some needed joy to kick-off this year."

To enter, Australians (aged over 18) can enter to win on the Vodka Cruiser's Facebook page and share their favourite flavour of Vodka Cruiser. Entries close April 7, 2022.

The prize includes a two-hour window to enjoy their Vodka Cruiser Magnums with up to four friends at the chosen venue.

December 15, 2021: It's been a minute since Aussies could hit the shores of Mexico for a holiday, but one liquor brand is hoping to bring the stunning destination to you via a new sensory experience.

Alcohol brand 1800 Tequila has launched a limited-edition fragrance called 'Afar', as a tribute to your favourite tequila drinking travel spot.

The gender-neutral scent was developed by fragrance specialist Samantha Taylor from The Powder Room, and channels the smells reminiscent of Mexico, including Blue Agave (used for tequila production), lemon, verbena and sea salt.

The pack features both a fragrance and an edible spritz — comprising tequila, papaya, grapefruit and lim flavours — which you can add to your summery cocktail for an additional sensory hit.

Now the brand is giving Mexico lovers to chance to score a pack via its Instagram page.

"The past two years have robbed us of overseas travel and with borders reopening, we were inspired to bring the essence of travel to life in a new, multi-sensorial way," Proximo Spirits specialist Hayley Dixon said of the initiative.

October 15, 2021: Baileys' apple pie flavour is here for Christmas.

We love it when our favourite food and drinks brands come out with something new and delicious to celebrate the different festive seasons. So it makes sense we'd be thrilled to see Baileys Liqueur launch their new flavour for Christmas.

Best known for their creamy chocolatey and coffee flavours, Baileys was all about the red velvet edition last year.

But 2021 is a whole different bag, with the brand revealing their limited-edition flavour for this silly season is apple pie.

Available for a limited time only, the new release 'blends the delicious flavours of homemade apple pie, with the creaminess of vanilla ice-cream and Baileys original Irish cream, topped with hints of cinnamon and spices,' according to the press release.

There's also a reminder that drinks like this aren't just for sipping. You can turn them into a dessert of their own by serving over ice cream, use them in your Christmas baking or create a new cocktail.

Apple Pie Baileys is available now (mid-October, 2021) for a limited time while stocks last and you'll find it at all major liquor stores. It comes in a 700ml bottle with an RRP of $36.99.

September 30, 2021: Bundaberg Rum has released a new Christmas flavour, but it might feel a bit familiar.

One of the key ingredients of many Chrsitmas gatherings is a good old rum ball, filled with spices, cake and lots of rum. This year, for their Christmas release Bundaberg Rum has gone a step further — instead of putting rum into the chocolates and cakes, they're putting those Christmas flavours into their rum with the newly-released Rum Ball liqueur flavour.

The limited-edition liqueur is described as having 'notes of warming rum, sweet spice, biscuit, vanilla, cocoa and coconut', all the flavours of a classic Christmas rum ball.

"We see Rum Ball recipes peak every year in the lead up to Christmas, so we've been thinking, why just eat Rum Balls when you could drink them too?" Says Duncan Littler, Bundaberg Rum Distillery Marketing & Experience Manager in the release.

Serving suggestions for the drink include sipping it neat over ice, or as a decadent dessert with a dollop of ice cream in a short glass with a rum ball on top.

We might even suggest making your rum balls this year with the rum ball flavoured drink, to double down on those flavours.

October 19, 2020: Your favourite creamy chocolate liqueur has just launched a dessert-inspired flavour in Australia, described by fans as "cake in a bottle".

The Baileys Red Velvet Cupcake has hit shelves, boasting the decadent flavour of red velvet cupcakes folded into Baileys Original Cream. The flavour has already proven a fast hit overseas, launching in the US and the UK in 2019 to critical acclaim — even nabbing a Double Gold gong at the San Francisco Spirits Competition.

The 700ml bottle is retailing for $35.99.

Aussie fans are already aching to try the decadent new flavour, with Facebook comments ranging from "OMG WE NEED TO TRY THIS!!!" to "we need to stock up".

One keen Baileys fan didn't waste any time trying the cake-spiked drink.

"I got my baileys today, and it's amazing! I don't think this bottle will last long!"

The liqueur can also be used to make a very festive red velvet martini — a vodka cocktail featuring whipped cream on top. Here's how to make it:

The Red Velvet Martini (1.3 standard drinks)

1. Add 50mls of Baileys Red Velvet Cupcake and 25mls of vodka into an ice-filled shaker.

2. Shake with ice and pour into a martini glass.

3. Top with whipped cream for added decadence.

Baileys Red Velvet Cupcake will be available from mid-October for a limited time at all leading liquor stores nationwide, until stocks last.
