Bridgeport police investigate at the scene of a shooting at a home on Park Terrace in Bridgeport, Conn., on Friday June 29, 2018. A 14-year-old boy was shot in the face and chest Friday afternoon, Police Chief Armando Perez said. “(He) was shot multiple times,” Perez said around 5:30 p.m.

BRIDGEPORT — A city man has been charged after police said he took a backpack from a woman visiting her father in the hospital.

A 31-year-old woman from New York was at St. Vincent’s Hospital visiting her ailing father Thursday. The woman was sitting in her car on the second-floor garage around 3:30 p.m. when the suspect, 35-year-old Enrique Dorvil, opened the passenger door and wrestled the woman’s backpack away from her, according to Detective Jeffrey Holtz.

Security footage from the scene helped provide the police department with a description of Dorvil, Holtz said. The suspect also had on a “distinctive jacket” at the time of the robbery, Holtz said.

About two hours later, Bridgeport Officer Kevin Bettini found Dorvil in a stolen car on Pembroke Street, Holtz said. Holtz said Dorvil was wearing the same jacket and had the woman’s property.

Dorvil was charged with third-degree robbery, credit card theft and first-degree larceny for the stolen car. He was held on a $35,000 bond, police said.

The woman suffered a minor hand injury from the incident and was treated at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Her items were later returned to her, police said.

Police said this was Dorvil’s second arrest in less than 24 hours. On Wednesday night, he was arrested on the East Side and charged with interfering with an officer, third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace.
