ASTORIA, QUEENS — A bag with a gun inside it was stolen from an Astoria pizza shop last week after its owner left it there, according to police.
The 28-year-old man walked into Krave it Pizza Sandwich Joint on 30th Avenue near 37th Street at around 1 p.m. Thursday, carrying a backpack that contained a legally-possessed firearm, police said.
He dropped the backpack under a table and then left the store without it, police said. When he returned to the shop, the backpack was gone, police said.
Police released a photo showing a man wearing the backpack inside the pizzeria. They asked anyone with information to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). People can also submit tips online or on Twitter, @NYPDTips.
